Update on Conservation Area

On Tuesday last week the decison on the conservation areas around Highgate Lane and Chingford Avenue went at short notice to the Conservative Cabinet meeting at Rushmoor Council for decision. We found out about this only days before hand and put a note out as soon as we could to residents in the area. The conservation areas had been amended - Farnborough Hill area now retains the grounds of Farnborough Hill but no longer includes Highgate Lane and Chingford Avenue. The new Farnborough Street area also had some amendments. Local residents attended the meeting and 70 people had responded to the consultation held earlier in the year. Whilst the Lib Dem team do not agree in particular with the Highgate lane and Chingford Avenue area being removed the Conservative Cabinet agreed with the proposals.

Update Lynchford Roadworks

Councillor Craig Card met today with a Hampshire County Council official about the traffic chaos at Park and Queens road. The issue of huge volumes of traffic entering these roads due to the Lynchford roadworks was discussed and it is promised that this would be looked at and alternative proposals will be brought forward in the coming weeks. Hampshire county council has asked Surrey county council to put diversion signs up on the A331.

Next phase of roadworks -Alexandra Road

Alexandra Road The next phases of Hampshire County Council transport scheme currently under construction in North Camp has been announced. Work starts at Alexandra Road and (Old) Lynchford Road will be permanently closed (i.e. the section between St. Alban's Roundabout, across Camp Road junction and through to the car park access at the end of the road). On Monday 28 November, works starts on St. Alban's Roundabout and long to Netley Street, in preparation for the new southbound bus lane. The work on Alexandra Road is due to be completed in the early part of next year. From Monday 28 November traffic will need to divert via Alexandra Road, Queens Road and Camp Road. We have concerns that this will increase the problem within the area.

Sign our Petition

In the last few weeks Park Road and Queens Road have been turned into a traffic cut through by Hampshire Highways Authority due to the Lynchford road improvement works. These roads are not suitable for such high traffic volumes.
