Over crowded trains- Hang on tight!
Many of us endure the discomfort and frustration of overcrowded commuter trains into London.
The seats on the SWT carriages are very narrow. Many of us choose to stand rather than be squeezed together with fellow travellers.
If you're standing, there's very little to hold on to. And standing for an hour in a swaying carriage feels
tiring, uncomfortable and quite dangerous. In contrast, Tube carriages have clearly been designed to keep
people safe when lots of us are standing.
Tube trains have lots of grab rails. SWT carriages have very few. SW Trains seem happy to keep increasing our fares but seem less
concerned about the comfort and safety of their paying customers. Installing decent grab rails in
overcrowded commuter routes would be an inexpensive way to improve passenger comfort and safety.
If you think that installing decent grab rails on the main commuter routes should be a priority for SW
Trains, then please go to the Aldershot Liberal Democrats web
site (www.aldershotlibdems.org.uk) and sign our on line petition for
"More Grab Rails".
