Hampshire County Council asks for government approval for a 15% increase in Council Tax without going to the public for approval in a referendum. It's been reported that the government have now responded and have turned down this request. We wait and see what the next step by Hampshire County Council will be in filling the £175 million deficit. Will it be cuts to services or will the leadership ask for the required referendum to raise council tax by 15%.
