Conservation area review
Rushmoor council is reviewing Conservation areas within the borough. The councils overview document states that a conservation area is an area of special architectural or historic interest, the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance. The designation does not prohibit development, but rather seeks to ensure that any changes are in keeping with the area's special character.
Four particular areas are under review including in
Empress ward the conservation area currently called 'Farnborough Hill' it appears that the proposal overall is to make the conservation area smaller. Also the 'Basingstoke Canal area' which again seems to be a much smaller proposed area following the line of the Basingstoke canal.
