Alan Hilliar: "There's a climate emergency - save our planet"
Alan Hilliar is putting the battle to save our planet at the heart of his campaign as the election reaches its final week.
Alan is passionate about stopping climate change and saving our planet - he's pushing for global action to tackle emissions and local action to protect our green spaces.
Alan is backing the Lib Dem plan, which includes generating 80% of electricity from renewables by 2030, planting 60 million trees and year and retrofitting 26 million homes to make them more energy efficient. As well as helping to save the planet, more energy efficient homes would save the average family £550 a year.
It's all part of the Lib Dem plan for the UK to halve emissions by 2030 and to become carbon neutral by 2045.
Alan Hilliar said, "We must conserve our planet for our children and grandchildren to enjoy. We need more trees and less pollution, locally and nationally.
"A Lib Dem Government will make the UK a global leader in tackling climate change. But we also need to take action locally - which is why our local Conservative Councils need to improve their abysmal local recycling site and abandon their flawed plans to chop down trees to make way for a dual carriageway on Lynchford Road.
