Alan Hilliar has been selected to fight the next General Election as Liberal Democrat candidate for Aldershot.

Alan comes across as open and genuine, determined and hard working with a commitment to the people who he wants to serve in Parliament.

He's very much part of the community, having lived in Ash for most of his life, studying at Farnborough College and serving as a local councillor. Both he and his wife Carolyn are active members of their local church.

He's been a community campaigner for many years, working with local people on issues from safer railway crossings, safer travel for young clubbers, safer cycling and protecting our countryside, our environment and our local heritage.

Alan works as an independent business consultant specialising in business systems, communications and change and business transformation.

"Aldershot needs an MP who can relate to and represent everyone in the area, who understands the hopes and concerns all those who want to build a better life for themselves and their children.

Our schools and colleges are powerhouses where our children and young people grow and develop to take hold of the opportunities in a vibrant and expanding economy. I'm committed to supporting our local education and training establishments in making our young people ready to take hold of their future.

The variety and diversity of people living here creates challenges both in community relations, perceptions of the area and pressures on housing and local facilities. We need to be honest about the challenges and find fresh ways of living as one community.

I bring the commitment and the energy to help this area grow and develop, along with the compassion and understanding to make sure that no-one gets left behind and that Aldershot and Farnborough become a place of opportunity for all."
